WE GOT 8/10 OF AN INCH OF RAIN OVER THE WEEKEND.
WE NEEDED IT.
TODAY, SUNNY AND HIGH OF 60.
TOMORROW, IN THE 70'S...WILL BE THE WARMEST DAY OF THE WEEK.

THE WASTE AUTHORITY OF JACKSON COUNTY AWARDED A CONTRACT
THIS MORNING TO RE-BUILD THE TRANSFER STATION NORTH OF ANDREW
THAT BURNED DOWN IN MAY.    THERE WERE 6 BIDS.
THE LOW BID WAS FROM G.L. STOCKHAM AND SON OF MAQUOKETA, FOR
$504,867.    THE ENGINEER'S ESTIMATE WAS $650,000.   CONSTRUCTION WILL START SOON AND THE BUILDING WILL BE  COMPLETED AFTER THE FIRST OF THE YEAR.

THE MAQUOKETA 9-1-1 PHONE IS WORKING, BUT  THE DESPATCHER HAS TO
ASK THE ADDRESS OF THE PERSON ON THE PHONE.   THE PHONE
COMPANY IS WORKING ON THE PROBLEM.   NORMALLY, THE ADDRESS IS AUTOMATIC.

MAQUOKETA MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC MANAGER MIKE NICKESON HAS
BEEN ELECTED TO THE BOARD OF THE UNILITY'S SUPPLIER, WPPI
ENERGY IN WISCONSIN.  HE WILL SERVE ON THE BOARD FOR 2 YEARS.

SCHOOL BOARD MEETING TONIGHT.

CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT.

THAT HUNG AT McDONALD'S IN MAQUOKETA.   TWO  PAINTINGS ARE UP TO $200.

THE TOTAL FROM THE AUCTION WILL BE MATCHED BY GLEN KARPINSKI,
OWNER OF McDONALD'S,  AND THE CHECK WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE
RONALD McDONALD HOUSE IN IOWA CITY.

IT WAS A GREAT DAY SATURDAY AT THE HURSTVILLE INTERPRETIVE CENTER!
THE RIBBON CUTTING AND OPEN HOUSE OF THE JUST-FINISHED "HURSTVILLE OUTDOOR MAKEOVER" WAS HELD IN THE AFTERNOON.
I WAS THERE AND AMAZED AT WHAT I SAW.
YOU WILL HAVE TO SEE IT SOON.
AN A-PLUS ON THE YEAR-LONG, $80,000 PROJECT.
