UNUSUAL DAY TODAY....CLOUDS, WIND, RAIN, THEN THE SUN CAME OUT IN THE AFTERNOON AND WE GOT UP TO MID 50'S.
TOMORROW, WARMER...AND THE WEATHER IS GOING TO GET BETTER EACH DAY WITH FRIDAY AND SATURDAY FORECAST CALLING FOR SUNNY, NO RAIN AND HIGHS IN THE 70'S.
THIS PAST WEEKEND, FRIDAY PRETTY GOOD, SATURDAY CLOUDY WITH RAIN IN FORECAST BUT WE GOT LITTLE (THEY DID CANCEL THE SEASON OPENING STOCK CAR RACES HERE IN TOWN) AND SUNDAY WAS CLOUDY, COOL AND WET.

LOTS OF PICKUPS IN TOWN SATURDAY. HUGE TURNOUT FOR THE BIEDLER'S
JOHN DEERE CLOSING SALE JUST SOUTH OF TOWN. IT STARTED AT 9 AM AND LASTED UNTIL ABOUT 4 P.M. AND, ALSO AT 9 AM SATURDAY, THE BIG FARM MACHINERY SALE JUST EAST OF BALDWIN ON 64. GOOD TURNOUT FOR IT ALSO. PLUS, BOB LARKEY HAD A LIVESTOCK SALE THAT STARTED AT 11 SATURDAY MORNING. LOTS OF MONEY SPENT SATURDAY.

THE ANNUAL MAQUOKETA ROTARY DUCK RACE WILL BE SUNDAY, JUNE 21ST,
AND AGAIN ON THE FIRST DAY OF SUMMER. IT WILL BE HELD AT NOON AT THE YMCA SWIMMING POOL. MORE LATER ON IT.
THAT SAME DAY, FATHER'S DAY, THERE WILL BE THE ANNUAL DRIVE-IN, FLY-IN BREAKFAST AT THE AIRPORT, SPONSORED BY THE MAQUOKETA OPTIMIST CLUD.

THE ANNUAL BIG FLEA MARKET IS THIS SUNDAY AT FAIRGROUNDS IN MAQUOKETA.
THIS IS EASTERN IOWA'S LARGEST SHOW OF ITS KIND. 150 EXHIBITORS IN THE PEARSON BUILDING AND OUTSIDE TOO.'

IT IS JUST AFTER 5 P.M. AND NOW LIGHT RAIN IS FALLING AGAIN.

THE PEACE PIPE PLAYERS HAVE ANNOUNCED THAT THEY WILL PRESENT
"FOOTLOOSE" ON AUGUST 7,8-9.

THE GLENN MILLER ORCHESTRA PLAYS THIS SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE
OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER, AT 7 P.M. FOR THOSE BUYING DINNER SHOW
TICKETS FOR $40 PER PERSON, DINNER WILL BE AT COSTELLO'S OLD MILL.

THREE STUDENTS FROM MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL WERE EXPELLED LAST WEEK
FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SCHOOL YEAR. THERE WERE 3 FEMALES WHO WERE CAUGHT SMOKING MARIJUANA IN ONE OF THE HIGH SCHOOL REST ROOMS.
THE NAMES WERE NOT RELEASED.

I GOT AN EMAIL FROM SHEENA MANG, A RESIDENT OF MAQUOKETA, CURRENTLHY IN THE PERSIAN GULF. SHE IS ON A SEVEN MONTH DEPLOYMENT WITH THE U.S.
NAVY AND IS A PETTY OFFICER THIRD CLASS ON BOARD THE USS MILIUS DDG 69, STATIONED OUT OF SAN DIEGO. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME SHE HAS BEEN DEPLOYED TO THE PERSIAN GULF. SHE CHECKS THIS REPORT OFTEN AND
TRYS TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH FRIENDS BACK HERE IN MAQUOKETA. SHE
IS A 2004 GRADUATE OF MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL. SHE HAS ASKED ME TO
MENTION TO HER FAMILY THAT SHE MISSES THEM AND LOVES THEM AND THAT SHE CAN'T WAIT TO COME HOME. SHE SAYS HER FATHER AND STEPMOTHER, TODD AND TAMMY MANG AND GRANDPARENTS GEORGIA DRUM AND JACK ARNSDORF
