CHARLIE SAGERS IS USING THIS TIME TO RE-DO
HIS SHOP AND STORE ON NORTH MAIN IN
DOWNTOWN, NEXT TO THE EMPTY FORMER
OWL FURNITURE. TWENTY YEARS AGO IT WAS
A MEAT LOCKER. CHARLIE STARTED HIS
"SAGER CUSTOM WOODWORKING" THEN.
ANOTHER BUILDING IS GETTING A NEW FRONT. WORK STARTED TODAY ON THIS BUILDING OWNED BY BRAD DEERY. THE LEFT HAS NO BUSINESS AT THIS TIME.
THE CENTER IS HOME OF "PJ'S DISCOUNT" AND THE RIGHT IS A TELEMARKTING
OFFICE FOR BRAD DEERY MOTORS. THE UPSTAIRS WAS A YOUTH CENTER AT
ONE TIME AND IS NOW A BIG OPEN STOREROOM. THIS RENOVATION IS PART
OF THE BIG FACADE PROGRAM THIS YEAR AND NEXT OF OVER 20 BUILDINGS
ON MAIN STREET. THE WEST SIDE THIS YEAR, THE EAST SIDE NEXT YEAR.
LOCAL BUILDING OWNERS FINANCE THEIR BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS WITH THEIR MONEY, WITH CITY OF MAQUOKETA PARTICIPATION AND A GRANT.
WHILE ON AN AFTERNOON RIDE AROUND JACKSON COUNTY YESTERDAY,
NOTICED LOTS AND LOTS OF NICE HOMES AND FARMSTEADS.
THIS ENTRANCE WAY IS ON 216TH AVENUE.
BEING OUT IN THE RURAL AREA ON A GRAVEL ROAD, MANY
ARE NOT SEEN BY MANY. ALL THE MORE REASON TO SALUTE
THE FARMERS THAT DO THIS..... LIKE THE REED'S DID.
NO NEW JACKSON COUNTY CASES TODAY. WE ARE STILL AT 4. JACKSON COUNTY IS IN THE ABOVE REGION 5
I ASKED SOMEONE TODAY WHAT THEY DID FOR EASTER. THE REPLY WAS..."IT WAS HARD DECIDING WHERE TO GO FOR EASTER - THE LIVING ROOM OR THE BEDROOM"
NANCY, SON DAVE AND I HAD
A DELICIOUS CARRY OUT HAM
DINNER FROM
"CITY LIMITS RESTAURANT"
