SUNNY AND COOL TODAY...ONLY IN THE 50'S.
WARMER DURING THE WEEKEND AND 70 ON MONDAY.
THE MAQUOKETA ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB IS NOT HAPPY WITH THE
MONEY THEY NEED TO PAY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR USING THE
GYM FOR YOUTH BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS. THE TOURNAMENTS
PROVIDE NEARLY $25,000 TO THE CLUB WHICH IN TURN IS TURNED
OVER TO THE DISTRICT FOR ATHLETIC NEEDS. LAST YEAR THE RENT
WAS OVER $2,000 AND THIS YEAR IT WILL BE $1,000 MORE. BOARD MEMBER TRACY WALLER WHO APPEARED BEFORE THE BOARD THIS WEEK WAS TOLD THAT THE RENT MONEYU IS USED TO PAY FOR A CUSTODIAN THAT WORKS THE 3-DAY TOURNAMENTS. THE LIABILITY ISSUE WAS ALSO MENTIONED AS A FACTOR FOR THE FEE. SINCE THE ISSUE WAS NOT AN AGENDA
ITEM, NO ACTION WAS TAKEN BUT THE BOARD SAID THE ISSUE WILL BE
ON THE AGENDA AT THE NEXT MEETING.
THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OPENED BIDS FOR A NEW "BAT WING" MOWER TO MOW COUNTY DITCHES. THE BOARD WAS
HAPPY AND SURPRISED AT THE LOWEST BID, JUST OVER $8,000, FROM KUNAU IMPLEMENT. THE HIGHEST BID WAS $22,000. THE KUNAU BID
WAS ACCEPTED.
