AN UNIDENTIFIED RESIDENT OF THE QUAD CITIES APPARENTLY KILLED
HIMSELF AFTER A SHORT CHASE BY A STATE TROOPER AROUND 8:30
LAST NIGHT ON HIGHWAY 61 SOUTH OF THE MAQUOKETA MOTEL. POLICE RECEIVED A REPORT OF A DISTRAUGHT MAN DRIVING ON 61 AND THE STATE TROOPER SPOTTED HIS VEHICLE GOING SOUTH. HE DID NOT STOP FOR THE TROOPER AND BY THEN MAQUOKETA POLICE ARRIVED. THE CHASE
CONTINUED AND THE STATE SQUAD CAR GOT IN FRONT OF THE MAN'S
VEHICLE AND WAS HIT IN THE REAR BY THE QUAD CITIES CAR AND IT WENT INTO THE MEDIAN. OFFICERS THEN SAW HIM ATTEMPT TO KILL HIM SELF AND HE WAS TAKE TO THE MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL WHERE HE DIED
A SHORT TIME LATER. AN AUTOPOSY HAS BEE SCHEDULED.
THE WEB SITE "ONLY IN Y OUR STATE-IOWA" HAS RELEASED A LIST OF
THE TOP 7 HIKING SPOTS IN IOWA. THE MAQUOKETA CAVES STATE
PARK IS NUMBER 5 ON THE LIST.
ON JUNE 13TH, THE PUBLIC IS INVITED TO GO ON A PRAIRIE HIKE
AT 10 A.M. AT THE RAY HAMILTON PROPERTY NORTH OF MAQUOKETA.
