AND THEN, EVEN WITH SUNSHINE, IT DROPPED DURING THE DAY TO 27 THIS AFTERNOON AND IT WILL BE COLD TONIGHT AND THE REST OF THE WEEK.
LITTLE OR NO SNOW THE REST OF THE WEEK.
PILOTS IN THIS AREA WILL FIND SOME OF THE CHEAPEST FUEL AT THE
MAQUOKETA AIRPORT. A SURVEY SHOWED OF 11 AREA AIRPORTS,
MAQUOKETA'S RATES ARE AMONG THE LOWEST. THE AIR NAVIGATION WEB SITE LISTS THE PRICES AND SOME PILOTS CHECK PRICES IN THE AREA
BEFORE FILLING UP. SO, EVEN IN THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY, THERE ARE
DIFFERENT PRICES AND MAQUOKETA'S ARE BETTER THAN MOST.
THIS WEEK, THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS APPROVED A
BUDGET FOR THE YEAR 2015-16 THAT TAKES EFFECT JULY 1ST. THE TAX
RATE WILL DROP SLIGHTLY TO $5.28 PER $1,000. THE CURRENT RATE IS
$5.31. FOR THE RURAL AREAS, THE DECREASE WILL BE DOWN TO $8.26
PER $1,000. LAST YEAR IT WAS $8.30. THE NEW BUDGET FOR 2015-2016
PROJECTS REVENUES OF $14.58 MILLION DOLLARS AND SPENDING OF
$13.86 MILLION DOLLARS.
THE BUDGET INCLUDES MONEY FOR COURT HOUSE SECURITY MEASURES
AND 4-PERCENT PAY INCREASES FOR ELECTED OFFICIALS.

LAST NIGHT, THE MAQUOKETA CARDINAL BOYS TEAM WON THEIR THEIR STRAIGHT GAME, DEFEATING ANAMOSA 56 TO 49 ON THE ROAD.
ALSO THERE LAST NIGHT, THE CARDINAL GIRLS LOST TO ANAMOSA,
37 TO 31. THE GIRLS FINISHED THEIR SEASON AT 4 AND 17 AND
PLAY DAVENPORT ASSUMPTION IN TOURNAMENT PLAY NEXT WEDNESDAY.
