84 AND SUNNY TODAY.
TOMORROW, SUNNY WITH A HIGH OF 86.
SUNDAY, PARTLY SUNNY AND HIGH OF 87.
THE MAQUOKETA YMCA PLANS TO SEEK A GRANT TO BUILD A NEW
"SAFE" ROOM, TO USE DURING TORNADOS. IF THEY GET THE GRAND,
IT WOULD PAY 85% OF THE COST AND THE CITY WOULD HAVE TO COME UP WITH THE OTHER 15%. IT WOULD BE THE FIRST IN JACKSON COUNTY.
CLINTON COUNTY HAS ONE AT GOOSELAKE AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.
NO ESTIMATES ON COST AT THIS TIME. THE ROOM WOULD BE USED
FOR Y ACTIVITIES IN ADDITION TO BEING AVAILABLE DURING A STORM.
THIS MONTH, C & R TIRES WILL CELEBRATE THEIR 32ND ANNIVERSARY.
A VERY NICE FIREWORKS DISPLAY LAST NIGHT AT THE FAIRGROUNDS AND
A GOOD CROWD WATCHING....EITHER ON THE GROUNDS OR ON STREETS, HIGHWAYS AND LAWNS AROUND THE FAIRGROUNDS. JUST RIGHT IN LENGTH, ABOUT 20 MINUTES. AND HUNDREDS OF FREE ICECREAM
CONES WERE SERVED AT THE COMMUNITY HALL AT THE EAST END OF THE
GRANDSTAND, COURTESY OF MAQUOKETA MERCHANTS, INCLUDING KMAQ
AND THE VOY THEATRES.
HAVE A NICE WEEKEND.
