IT IS RAINING PRETTY HARD IN MAQUOKETA.    BEEN RAINING ON AND OFF
TODAY AND MORE TONIGHT, TOMORROW, TOMORROW NIGHT AND TAPERING OFF
FOR THE WEEKEND.   COOL TOO.

THE MAQUOKETA  COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS APPROVED HIRING
ANOTHER PERSON TO ASSIST WITH TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT IN THE DISTRICT.
THERE ARE CURRENTLY TWO PEOPLE HANDLING TECH SUPPORT AND
SUPT. KIM HUCKSTADT SAID IT IS DIFFICULT FOR DAVE KETELSEN AND DUSTIN
COOGIN TO KEEP UP.   THERE ARE CURRENTLY NEARLY 1,000 COMPUTER WORK
STATIONS IN THE DISTRICT.     THE SALARY TO BE OFFERED FOR 220 DAYS, $25,000.

THE CITY COUNCIL FINANCE COMMITTEE WILL BE RECOMMENDING TO THE FULL COUNCIL THAT THE CITY RESURFACE ALL OF WASHINGTON STREET THAT
GOES BY THE HIGH SCHOOL.    THE CITY HAD PLANNED TO DO ONLY THE  TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE HILL.ROAD.         IF THE CITY USES  SOME I-JOBS MONEY, THE MIDDLE PORTION COULD ALSO BE  RESURFACED AND THE ENTIRE
COST WOULD BE AROUND $58,000.      THE SCHOOL  BOARD HAD PREVIOUSLY VOTED TO PROVIDE $15,000 TO THE CITY FOR REPAIRS TO THE ROAD, SINCE THE STREET WAS DAMAGED WHILE CONSTRUCTING THE NEW GYM.        IT IS HOPED THAT STREET CAN BE COMPLETED YET THIS YEAR.

THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL APPROVED THE PURCHASE OF FIVE TASERS EQUIPPED WITH CAMERAS AND TRAINING CARTRIDGES.     THE MONEY IS COMING FROM WHAT THE DEPARTMENT SEIZES DURING DRUG ARRESTS.     POLICE CHIEF BRAD KORANDA SAID ONE OFFICER WILL BE TRAINED TO USE THE TASERS AND THEN HE WILL TRAIN THE REST OF THE DEPARTMENT.

SIX YOUTH WERE FINED $107.25 EACH ON CHARGES OF VIOLATING CURFEW
REGULATIONS.        ALLOF THE 14, 15 AND 16 YEAR OLDS WERE IN A VEHICLE ATTEMPTING TO HIDE FROM OFFICERS IN THE TANDEM TIRE PARKING LOT AT 12:40 A.M. ON SEPTEMBER 7TH.

IT IS OCTOBER PORK MONTH.   ENJOY PORK OFTEN THIS MONTH!
