JACKSON COUNTY ZONING ADMINISTRATOR DAVID MANNING ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT HE WILL RETIRE DECEMBER 31, AFTER 30 YEARS WORKING FOR JACKSON COUNTY.
HE STARTED OUT IN THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT IN 1979 AND IN THE MID 80'S, WAS APPOINTED ZONING ADMINISTRATOR.
AT THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING LAST NIGHT, THE BOARD VOTED TO ALLOW
CLUB HOPE MEMBERS (AT MCHS) (19) AND THEIR CHAPERONES TO GO TO KENYA NEXT SUMMER. ALSO GOING WILL BE TWO TEACHERS, MINDY ORRIS AND ARLEEN PAULS. BOARD MEMBER BILL SCHWENKER COMMENDED MINDY ORRIS FOR HER WORK WITH THE CLUB. HE SAID IT IS AMAZING WHAT SHE'S BEEN ABLE TO DO.
THE MAQUOKETA CARDINAL FOOTBALL TEAM IS RANKED 10TH IN THE STATE
THIS WEEK, WITH THEIR 5 AND 0 RECORD. THE 5 AND 0 START BY THE WAY, IS THE BEST IN OVER 20 YEARS. THE CARDS HAVE THEIR WORK CUT OUT FOR THEM THIS WEEK WHEN THEY TRAVEL TO DEWITT FRIDAY NIGHT TO TAKE ON THE SABERS.
SEVEN HILLS PAVING HAS BEEN BUSY AROUND US THE LAST TWO DAYS, RE-DOING
THE ENTIRE MAQUOKETA STATE BANK PARKING LOT, WITH A NEW LAYER OF
ASPHALT. ANOTHER LOCAL FIRM THAT DOES VERY GOOD WORK.
