THE WORLD WAR II SOLDIER IS MAX MOELLER OF ARIZONA. MAX, BEFORE LEAVING HIS HOMETOWN OF MAQUOKETA, DELIVERED MILK FOR MOELLER'S DAIRY FOR 15 YEARS, AND ALSO HERE IN MAQUOKETA, WAS THE FULLER BRUSH REP, A TOOL GRINDER AND DID CAR UPHOLSTERY WORK. MAX WILL BE 90 IN ABOUT 6 MONTHS AND WAS BORN ON DARK HOLLOW ROAD, IN A SEARS PRE-CUT HOUSE, BUILT BY HIS DAD AND BROTHERS FOR HIS MOTHER DURING THE BIG WAR. WHEN MOVING TO DOWN, MAX LIVED FIRST AT 505 WEST GROVE. IT WAS TAKEN AWAY FOR AN ACCESS TO THE HOSPITAL AND HE THEN LIVED AT 509 WEST GROVE.
MAX WAS PLANNING TO VISIT MAQUOKETA THIS SUMMER BUT HAD TO CANCEL THE TRIP DUE TO A VISION PROBLEM OF HIS DAUGHTER, WHO PLANNED TO DO THE DRIVING. THAT SAILOR PICTURE BELOW WAS TAKEN BY BUD SKRIVSETH.
MAX HAS LOTS OF ENTRIES ON THE KMAQ GUEST BOOK. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ON MAQUOKETA HISTORY, EMAIL MAX AT lajmaka1@cableone.net
THIS PHOTO OF MAX WAS TAKEN A FEW YEARS AGO AT HIS LOCAL GOLDEN
CORRAL. IT IS NOT A RECENT PICTURE. THANKS FOR BEING A GOOD
KMAQ WEB SITE PARTICIPANT MAX. HOPE YOU CAN MAKE IT TO MAQUOKETA
SOMETIME SOON. WE CAN HAVE LUNCH AT THE HISTORIC DECKER HOTEL.
I'LL BUY!
