SATURDAY, DURING TIMBER CITY DAYS IN MAQUOKETA, THE MAQUOKETA ART EXPERIENCE STARTED WITH A BLANK 3 BY 4 FOOT WHITE CARD AND INVITED THE PUBLIC TO CONTRIBUTE TO A PAINTING OF THE DAY. AT THE END OF THE DAY, SHOWN ABOVE IS THE PAINTING THAT HAD MORE THAN 50 PEOPLE CONTRIBUTE
SOMETHINGN TO IT. THEY CREATED AN INTERESTING PIECE OF "HODGE-PODGE"
ARTWORK. AND, THEY HELD A $1 RAFFLE SO SOMEONE WOULD OWN IT. THE 2008 TIMBER CITY DAYS PAINTING WAS WON BY HEATHER RICKERTSEN OF DUBUQUE.

EVERY TUESDAY NIGHT IS AMATEUR PAINTING NIGHT DOWNTOWN AT THE

BOB OSTERHAUS.
ONE MORE THING...TODAY IS LONGTIME MAQUOKETA BUSINESSMAN, TIMBER CITY PROMOTER AND LOCAL HISTORIAN JERRY RASMUSSEN'S 88TH BIRTHDAY.
ONE CAN "GOOGLE" JERRY'S MEMORY FOR MANY INTERESTING MAQUOEKTA STORIES OF THE PAST. HE HAS A TERRIFIC MEMORY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY JERRY.
HE COMES TO COFFEE EVERY MORNING AT THE DECKER. HE AND DOROTHY LIVE IN THEIR NICE CONDO OUT ON THE EDGE OF THE MAQUOKETRA COUNTRY CLUB,
WHERE HE STILL GOLFS REGULARLY.
