EASTER SUNDAY WAS COLD AND SNOWY. FRESH SNOW ON THE GROUND FOR
SUNRISE SERVICE GOERS AND ON AND OFF SNOW A COUPLE TIMES IN THE AFTERNOON.
TODAY..PARTY SUNNY AND HIGH OF 38. UP TO 50 TOMORROW.
THE MAQUOKETA FIREMEN HAD TWO CALLS TODAY.....BOTH MINOR FIRES WITH NO SERIOUS DAMAGE. AT 12:20 THIS MORNING TO RIVER VILLAGE TWO APARTMENTS WHERE AN ASHTRAY DROPPED INTO THE GARBAGE CHUTE CAUGHT FIRE IN THE BASEMENT AND THE SPRINKLERS IN CHUTE PUT OUT THE FIRE.
THE OTHER FIRE CALL CAME IN AT 8:15 THIS MORNING, TO THE EVERETT BOWLING HOME ON SOUTH MAIN WHERE A PELLET STOVE VENT STARTED A FIRE WHICH
WAS QUICKLY EXTINGUISHED.
MARGARET FOOTE, AGE 79, OF DUBUQUE DIED YESTERDAY AT HER HOME.
