THE MAQUOKETA GIRLS LOST THEIR 2ND GAME OF THE SEASON LAST NIGHT, AT GOOSE LAKE, LOOSING TO NORTHEAST BY A SCORE OF 60 TO 50. BROOKE DAVIS WAS TOP SCORER FOR MAQUOKETA WITH 14 AND RIGHT BEHIND HER WITH 13,
TIFFANY HELMBRECHT. THE GIRL'S RECORD NOW IS O AND 2 AND THEY PLAY THEIR 3RD NON-CONFERENDE GAME TONIGHT,
HOSTING MOUNT PLEASANT.

THE MAQUOKETA BOYS FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON WILL BE NEXT TUESDAY AT CEDAR RAPIDS JEFFERSON.

THE WRESTLERS OPEN THE SEASON AT CLINTON NEXT THURSDAY NIGHT, AGAINST CLINTON AND NORTH SCOTT.

POLICE BLOTTER: MERLE KLOSSNER OF MAQUOKETA, REPORTED TWO PASSENGER TIRES ON HIS VEHICLE WERE SLASHED LAST NIGHT AT HIS RESIDENCE, 1117 EAST PLATT STREET.

DR. MICHAEL AND NINA LAUGHLIN OF ELDRIDGE ARE PARENTS OF A GIRL BORN WEDNESDAY AT GENESIS HOSPITAL IN DAVENPORT. PATERNAL GRANDPARENTS ARE GERALD AND CAROLYN LAUGHLIN OF MAQUOKETA. PATERNAL GREAT-GRANDPARENTS ARE JIM AND NANCY BELLMORE AND ROSETTE LAUGHLIN, ALL OF MAQUOKETA.

JAY AND CHRISTY WERTZBERGER OF DUBUQUE ARE PARENTS OF A GIRL BORN YESTERDAY AT MERCY IN DUBUQUE. GREAT-GRANDMOTHER IS LOIS DONATCH OF MAQUOKETA.

GLATHA ENGEL, AGE 94, OF MAQUOKETA DIED THIS MORNING AT THE LOCAL HOSPITAL. SERVICES TUESDAY AT CARSON AND SON FUNERAL HOME. AFTER HER MARRIAGE, SHE FARMED WITH HER HUSBAND IN RURAL MAQUOKETA FOR MANY YEARS.
SHE IS SURVIVED BY ONE SON, BOB ENGEL OF MAQUOEKTA AND HIS WIFE BEVERLY, ALSO 3 GRANDCHILDREN AND 8 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN.
