THE WAFFLE DINNER LAST NIGHT AT THE CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM WAS A BIG SUCCESS. THEY WERE HOPING FOR 300 AND SOLD 372.
THE MONEY RAISED WILL BE USED TO HELP BUILD A REPLICA NARROW GUAGE COMBINAITION CAR TO SIT ON A TRACK NEXT TO THE DEPOT THAT
WAS MOVED NEXT TO THE CLINTON ENGINES MUSEUM PARKING LOT,
FROM LaMOTTE, LAST SUMMER. THE WAFFLES WERE GOOD....DONE BY DAN'S FAMOUS WAFFLES OF ALGONA.
THIS IS THE YEAR THE GRAVEL ROAD LEADING TO THE MAQUOKETA
AIRPORT WILL BE MOVED SLIGHTLY (TO COMPLETE A RUNWAY PROTECTION ZONE) AT A COST OF OVER $250,000......90 PERCENT PAID FOR BY FEDERAL FUNDING AND 10 PERCENT BY THE CITY. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL ALSO PAVE THE ROAD (134TH AVENUE) OUT TO HIGHWAY 64. THE CITY
WILL VOTE ON THE LOW BID AT THEIR NEXT MEETING, THE LOW BID BEING
$258,479, FROM DUNN CONSTRUCTION OF BELLEVUE. THE ENGINEER
HAD ESTIMATED THE FINAL COST OF THE PROJECT TO BE AROUND $600,000.
IT WILL BE WAY LOWER, EVEN WITH POWER LINES THAT NEED TO BE MOVED.
THE MAQUOKETA AIRPORT IS A GOOD 5 MINUTES FROM THE CITY LIMITS. THE BIG DUBUQUE AIRPORT IS ABOUT 20 MINUTES FROM THE MAQUOKETA
CITY LIMITS. BUT, NICE TO HAVE OUR OWN!
