THE MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL LAST NIGHT VOTED TO LET THE
CONTRACT FOR THE 3-PLUS-MILLION-DOLLAR DOWNTOWN PROJECT,
FOR 3 BLOCKS OF MAIN STREET AND QUARRY STREET.     NEW INFRASTRUCTURE, NEW PAVING, SIDEWALKS, NEW STREET LIGHTS, ETC...ALL TO BE DONE IN ONE YEAR, 2016.     FINANCING STILL NEED TO BE
WORKED OUT AND THERE MAY HAVE TO BE A TAX INCREASE TO DO THE
WORK.
ALSO LAST NIGHT, THE COUNCIL PASSED THE NEW RENTAL ORDINANCE,
THAT WILL HAVE AN IMPACT ON OVER 900 RENTAL UNITS IN MAQUOKETA.
ECIA WILL DO THE INSPECTIONS.   COST TO TENANT OWNER, $30 PER UNIT PER YEAR.

MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION OF OHNWARD BANCSHARES, ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT STEVE TUBBS HAS RETIRED AS HEAD OF THE FARM
DEPARTMENT AT OHNWARD'S MAQUOKETA STATE BANK AND THAT
GREG BOPES WILL SUCCEED HIM.    STEVE IS THE SON OF THE LATE
CO-FOUNDER OF OHNWARD, ED TUBBS, AND GREG IS A MAQUOKETA NATIVE
AND 2010 GRADUATE OF MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL.  MIDWEST FARM
MANAGEMENT WAS FOUNDED BY HARLAN TONDERUM, ED TUBBS AND JOHN FAGERLAND (ALL 3 DECEASED) IN 1972 AND TONDERUM SERVED AS THE FIRST FARM MANAGER.

ARE THE PARENTS OF A GIRL BORN AT GENESIS HOSPITAL IN DAVENPORT YESTERDAY.    PATERNAL GRANDPARENT IS GARY SCHLAPIA OF MAQUOKETA AND PATERNAL GREAT GRANDMOTHER IS LUELLA SCHLALPIA ALSO
OF MAQUOKETA.

CHRISTMAS CAROLING HAS BEEN GOING ON THE PAST TWO WEEKS AT
M-S-B.   TOOK THIS PHOTO WHEN PASSING THROUGH YESTERDAY.

HAD A CHRISTMAS HOUSE PARTY LAST NIGHT FOR 3 GREAT GRANDKIDS (MOM IS SARA CLASEN) AND RED WAS AN INVITED GUEST AND LANDON
AND TRENTON GOT A NEW GUITAR.     RED IMMEDIATELY GAVE A LESSON
WHILE CORA LOOKED ON WITH TRENTON.  THIS IS RED'S 95TH CHRISTMAS  IN JACKSON COUNTY AND HE IS GOING TO BE DOING A COUPLE CAROLS, IN PERSON, THURSDAY HERE AT KMAQ.
