AN ILLINOIS WOMAN WAS KILLED IN A MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT YESTERDAY AFTERNOON IN JACKSON COUNTY, NORTH OF MAQUOKETA, NORTH OF THE MAQUOKETA CAVES STATE PARK ENTRANCE AT IRON HILL.
MARCIA ATCHISON OF ALPHA, ILLINOIS, WENT ACROSS THE CENTERLINE AND STRUCK A VEHICLE DRIVEN BY DWAINE BURKEN, AGE 38, OF
BALDWIN. SHE WAS ALONE ON HER CYCLE.
ALSO YESTERDAY, AROUND 5:30 A.M. MACAULLY BREEDEN, AGE 23,
OF MAQUOKETA, GOING NORTH ON HIGHWAY 61, LOST CONTROL AND
ROLLED HIS VEHICLE 4 TIMES. HE WALKED TO A RESIDENCE FOR ASSISTANCE AND WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL IN DUBUQUE.
$4,500 DAMAGE TO HIS 2000 FORD EXPLORER. NO CHARGES FILED.
THE FULTON CHURCH, AFTER THE SUNDAY SERVICE YESTERDAY, HAD
A FUN DAY AND THE GUEST WAS A 9 YEAR OLD FROM MONTICELLO,
MALCOLM CLARK. HE HAS BEEN PITCHING HORSESHOES FOR 4 YEARS AND IS THE WORLD JUNIOR CADET HORSESHOE PITCHING CHAMPION.
GOOD THROWER...EVEN BEAT MANY-TIMES IOWA CHAMPION RED
HENTON OF MAQUOKETA.
IN THE FIRST PHOTO BELOW, YOU SEE RED WAS THINKING.....I CAN'T BEAT THIS KID.
AND IN THE SECOND PHOTO, YOU NOTICE RED LOOKS COMPOSED AND
GIVING IT ALL HE HAD.
BUT, THE KID WAS BETTER. NOTE, IN BOTH PHOTOS, THE HORSE SHOE
IN THE AIR ON THE WAY TO A RINGER.
MAQUOKETA'S ADVENTURE WALK SATURDAY MORNING, WITH 116 WALKERS,
DOWN FROM 200 LAST YEAR, RAISED $5,500 FOR THE ALZHEIMER'S
ASSOCIATION. ORGANIZERS THINK BEING ON HOMECOMING WEEKEND
WAS NOT BEST WEEKEND TO HAVE THE WALK.
MAQUOKETA PLAYS MARION IN FOOTBALL THIS FRIDAY. THE CARDINALS
ARE FAVORED.
