SAME FOR THE NEXT 3 DAYS FOR SURE, THROUGH THE WEEKEND.
IT IS HOMECOMING WEEK IN MAQUOKETA. THE PHOTO BELOW
(CONTRIBUTED TO THE MAQUOKETA SENTINEL-PRESS) IS OF KING KYLE SCHIFFER AND QUEEN KAILIE HAZER.
A NEW PIECE OF EQUIPMENT IS BEING USED IN THE OPERATING ROOM
AT THE HOSPITAL HERE, THE FIRST HOSPITAL IN THE REGION TO USE THE
STRYKER TOWER. IT PROVIDES SURGEONS WITH A CAMERA SETTING
THAT FILTERS OUT THE "GRAININESS" OF THE PICTURE THAT OCCASSIONALLY OCCURS WHEN USING CAUTHERIZATION. IT ALSO HAS
A "ZOOM" FEATURE FOR A BETTER VIEW OF THE ANATOMY. IT COST
OVER $100,000. IT WILL BE USED ROUTINELY ON LAPAROSCOPIC GALL
BLADER, APPENDECTOMY, HERNIA AND KNEE SURGERIES AS WELL AS
EXPLATORY ABDOMINAL PROCEDURES.
PATTY HICKS OF MAQUOKETA HIT A DEER ON HIGHWAY 62 MONDAY
MORNING. SHE WAS TAKEN TO THE MAQUOKETA HOSPITAL FOR
POSSIBLE INJURIES. SHE WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT. ABOUT $3,500
IN DAMAGE TO HER 2005 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN.
THE PHOTO ABOVE TAKEN BY BROOKE TAYLOR OF THE MAQUOKETA SENTINAL-PRESS SHOWS PEGGY McMURRAY MODELING AN APRON
SHE MADE. SHE MADE TWO AND THEY WILL BE THE TWO PRIZES
FOR THE ANDREW LIONS CLUB CHILI COOK-OFF, PIE BAKE-OFF AND SILENT
AUCTION THIS SUNDAY AT THE ANDREW PARK PAVILION, OVER THE
NOON HOUR. EVERYONE IS WELCOME. FOR $7, YOU WILL ENJOY
HOME MADE CHILI AND PIE AND YOUR TICKET IS ONE VOTE TO YOUR
FAVORITE.
MY NUMBERS ARE DOWN HERE A LITTLE .....OF THOSE READING THIS
DAILY REPORT. HOW ABOUT SOME HELP?
IF EVERYONE READING THIS DAILY WOULD SEND JUST ONE EMAIL TO A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER AND TELL THEM ABOUT THIS DAILY REPORT, THE
NUMBERS COULD GO BACK UP. EARLIER THIS WEEK, I HAD AN EMAIL
FROM A FORMER MAQUOKETA RESIDENT WHO DID NOT KNOW ABOUT
THE DAILY. I TOLD HER....SHE BROUGHT IT UP AND SAID SHE WILL NOW
ALSO BE A "REGULAR". THAT FRIEND OR NEIGHBOR OF YOURS CAN BE FROM HERE IN MAQUOKETA OR ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE COUNTRY.
I THANK YOU!
A BIT OF HUMOR TO END TODAY....
