AT THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING MONDAY NIGHT, A PERSON FROM TRINITY AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN ILLINOIS WAS PRESENT, FOR A PUBLIC HEARING
THAT WAS NECESSARY FOR HIS COMPANY TO BUY THE RIVER VILLAGE
APARTMENT BUILDINGS ON NORTH ARCADE STREET IN MAQUOKETA.
THE HEARING HAD BEEN ADVERTISED AND THERE WAS NO MEMBER OF THE COMMUNITY THAT SPOKE ON THE MATTER, SO THE HEARING WAS QUICKLY CLOSED. IT DEALT WITH THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS ON BEHALF OF THE
TRINITY COMPANY. RIVER VILLAGE (TWO BUILDINGS ACROSS THE STREET FROM EACH OTHER) IS ONE OF 5 PROPERTIES THAT TRINITY HOUSING IS
BUYING OUTSIDE OF ILLINOIS.
ALSO AT THE MEETING, MINDY ORRIS APPEARED FOR THE CLUB (HOPE)
SHE IS IN CHARGE OF AT THE HIGH SCHOOL ASKING THE COUNCIL FOR
APPROVAL TO HOLD AN EVENT IN THE CITY, ON MAY 2ND, CALLED THE "GLOW RUN"...A 5K RUN THAT WILL START AT THE HIGH SCHOOL WITH A $20 FEE TO PARTICIPATE WHICH INCLUDES A SHIRT AND GLOW MATERIALS. THE
CLUB WILL RUN IT ON CITY STREETS AND FUNDS WILL GO TO THE "TO WRITE LOVE ON HER ARM" FOUNDATION WHICH FINDS HELP FOR THOSE STRUGGLING WITH THE EFFECTS OF DEPRESSION, ADDICTION AND SELF-INJURY. GOOD OLE "CLUB hOPE" ALWAYS COMING UP WITH GOOD
PROJECTS AND GOOD OLE MINDY FOR LEADING THE PACK.

IOWA. THE BIEHL'S ARE PUTTING MAQUOKETA ON THE WORLD MUSIC
MAP. NANCY AND I ATTENDED A CONCERT LAST YEAR AND WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO A VISIT OR TWO THIS YEAR.
THE PENROSE COURTHOUSE ANNEX BUILDING JUST WEST OF THE
LAW CENTER ON WEST PLATT IN MAQUOKETA IS FINIALLY FINISHED.

LAW ENFORCEMENT WAS NOTIFIED LAST NIGHT AT ABOUT 7 THAT
A BURGLAR WAS ON NORTH JONES. THE PERSON REPORTING THE
INCIDENT SAID THAT THE INSIDE SECURITY DOOR WAS OPEN AND SOMEONE WALKED IN WITH A MASK OVER THEIR FACE. THAT PERSON THREATENED TO GO AFTER THE REPORTING PERSON'S "IN HOME HEALTH PROVIDER" IF HE CALLED POLICE. SEVEN MINUTES AFTER MAKING THE POLICE CALL,
THE REPORTING PERSON SAID THE INTRUDER HAD LEFT THE RESIDENCE.
THE INCIDENT IS UNDER INVESTIGATION AND THE ASSAILANT IS POSSIBLY A WHITE MALE WHO WAS WEARING CARHART PANTS AND A SWEATSHIRT AND STOOD ABOUT 6 FOOT TALL.
RONALD McDONALD VISITED SACRED HEART SCHOOL TODAY WITH STAFF MEMBERS FROM THE RONALD McDONALD HOUSE IN IOWA CITY. THEY
WHERE HERE TO CONGRATULATE THE STUDENTS FOR COLLECTING THE MOST ALUMINUM CAN TABS OF ANY SCHOOL IN EASTERN IOWA DURING THE PAST YEAR. THEY COLLECTED AN AVERAGE OF 1.57 POUNDS PER STUDENT, OR AGOUT 2,000 TABS PER STUDENT. DURING THE 9 A.M. CEREMONY THIS
MORNING, STUDENTS WERE GIVEN PRIZES AND TREATS FOR THEIR HARD
WORK.
