FRIDAY DAILY REPORT

SUNNY AND COLD TODAY, HIGH OF 28.
TONIGHT, DOWN TO 11.
SNOW LIKELY TOMORROW...A HALF INCH.
TOMORROW NIGHT, MAYBE ANOTHER FULL INCH.
SUNDAY, FLURRIES EARLY, THEN PARTLY SUNNY AND HIGH OF 28.
MONDAY, PARTLY SUNNY AND ONLY 21 FOR A HIGH.
YES...THE COLD WEATHER WILL CONTINUE TO HANG AROUND.

LAST FRIDAY, THE MAQUOKETA POLICE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO A REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY NEAR CARDINAL SCHOOL WHERE IT WAS REPORTED THAT AN OLDER FEMALE TRIED TO ENTICE TWO STUDENTS INTO A VEHICLE AND GIVE THEM A RIDE TO SCHOOL.   THE KIDS RAN AND THE  LADY TOOK OFF IN HER CAR.    THE PD CONCLUDED ITS INVESTIGATION TODAY AFTER THE  "SUSPECT VEHICLE"  WAS LOCATED AND STOPPED BY OFFICERS.   SHE AS INTERVIEWED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THE INDIVIDUAL HAD NO CRIMINAL INTENT.

THE SUPERVISORS CANVAS OF VOTES WAS DONE AND IT SHOWED NEARLY THE SAME AS ON ELECTION DAY, WITH 4,304 VOTING AT THE POLLS AND 3,477 ABSENTEES FOR A 52-PERCENT TOTAL OF ELIGIBLE VOTERS.
A GOOD TURNOUT.

THREE FIRE DEPARTMENTS BATTLED A HOUSE FIRE EARLY THIS MORNING
AT RURAL ELWOOD, THE DALE HINZ HOME.   IT WAS DESTROYED.
LOST NATION FIRE WAS CALLED INITIALLY AND MAQUOKETA AND DELMAR WERE CALLED TO ASSIST.    THE FAMILY GOT OUT WITHOUT INJURY.   THE CAUSE WAS A WOOD STOVE CHIMNEY FIRE.
