FREE LUNCH ON THE DAIRY FARM
THE JUNE DAIRY MONTH PROMOTON WAS HELD TODAY AT THE SCOTT & TRICIA HOLDGRAFER FARM ON 328TH AVENUE, RURAL BELLEVUE.
AROUND 20 YEARS AGO SCOTT STARTED WITH ONE DAIRY COW. ADDED
4 MORE A SHORT TIME LATER AND TODAY, HE MILKS AROUND 400, DAY AND NIGHT. EVERY COW IS MILKED 3 TIMES A DAY. HE DOES NOT USE THE
ROBOTIC EQUIPMENT AND SAYS DAIRY PRICES GO UP AND DOWN BUT
HAVE BEEN GOOD THE PAST YEAR.
TRICIA AND SCOTT ARE BOTH JACKSON COUNTY NATIVES. TRICIA CONCENTRATES IN THE CALF BARN WHERE THEY CAN HAVE AS MANY AS CALVES AT ONE TIME AND EACH IN AN INDIVIDUAL PEN. THE COUPLE HAS
4 SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN AND ALL HELP AS MUCH AS THEY CAN IN THIS
LARGE DAIRY OPERATION.
BARB KILBURG IS A KEY PERSON FOR THE TWO COUNTY DAIRY ASSOCATION. SHE WORKS HARD EACH YEAR ON THE ANNUAL DAIRY
BANQUET AND THE SUNDAY LUNCH, WORKING WITH A BOARD OF DIRECTORS. BARB AND HUSBAND DWAIN HAVE A LARGE DAIRY FARM
SOUTH OF BELLEVUE.
SOME PHOTOS ON THE GROUNDS SUNDAY.....
WATERMELON AND ICE CREAM WAS SERVED IN THE LARGE BUILDING TWO
PHOTOS UP....A NEW SHOP BUILDING NEVER BEFORE USED. THE ABOVE
BUILDING EARLIER IN THE WEEK WAS DESTROYED BY FIRE AND CARPENTERS IMMEDIATELY PUT IT BACK UP IN TIME FOR TODAY'S LUNCH.
THERE WAS A PETTING AREA FOR KIDS, WITH HORSES, MULES, CHICKENS,
GOATS, KITTENS, AND MORE.
