A MAQUOKETA MAN WAS AIRLIFTED TO UNIVERSITY OF IOWA HOSPITALS AND CLINICS AFTER A MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT AT 3:30 YESTERDAY AFTERNOON
NEAR ANDREW.    JAMES SCHUELER, AGE 62, OF MAQUOKETA, WAS DRIVING
WEST WHEN HE WENT AROUND A CURVE, LOST CONTROL AND WENT INTO THE DITCH.      HIS CONDITION IS NOT AVAILABLE.   $10,000 IN DAMAGES TO HIS HIS 1998 HARLEY DAVIDSON.

SATURDAY I ATTENDED THE UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES.     WHAT A GREAT, BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS!
WE WERE THERE FOR MACKIE MOORE'S GRADUATION.    SHE IS NANCY'S GRANDAUGHTER AND DAUGHTER OF LINDA MOORE OF MAQUOKETA AND
KENNETH MOORE OF MAQUOKETA.    THE DAY BROUGHT BACK MEMORIES
FOR KEN AS HE GRADUATED FROM UD OVER 30 YEARS.    AND HE SAID
THE UNIVERSITY IS COMPLETELY CHANGED SINCE THEN WITH GROWTH
AND MANY NEW BUILDINGS.    TIM MELVOLD, KMAQ STUDENT ANNOUNCER
YEARS AGO AND SON OF KMAQ'S SHERI MELVOLD WORKS FOR UD IN
THEIR RECRUITMENT DEPARTMENT.   HE'S RESPONSIBLE FOR THE EASTERN
THIRD OF THE UNITED STATES.

SATURDAY NIGHT, OFF TO DINNER AT THE MAQUOKETA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE/MAQUOKETA ART EXPERIENCE.....TO HEAR THE VOICE OF THE IOWA HAWKEYES, GARY DOLPHIN OF PEOSTA.
GARY DID A NICE JOB TALKING ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF TOURISM TO
SMALL-TOWN IOWA AND FINISHED HIS TALK WITH COMMENTS ON IOWA BASKETBALL AND FOOTBALL.    THE NATIVE OF CASCADE LOVES  HIS JOB THAT HE HAS HELD OVER 20 YEARS.
THE EVENT SATURDAY NIGHT WAS THE ANNUAL MEETING OF THE  JACKSON COUNTY AREA TOURISM ASSOCIATON.    AFTER GARY LEFT TO ATTEND A
WEDDING, THE TOURISM MEETING WAS HELD AND I'M GLAD I WAS THERE.
TO MY SURPRISE, I WAS HONORED.

I THANK THE ASSOCIATION FOR NAMING ME A PROMOTIONAL PARTNER.   ABOVE WITH THE PLAQUE (WILL HANG IN KMAQ LOBBY FOR THE NEXT 12 MONTHS) THAT WAS PRESENTED BY THE NEW ASSOCIAITION PRESIDENT
STEVE TEBBE WHO OWNS WHISPERING MEADOWS RESORT AT RURAL
SPRINGBROOK.

SUNDAY...GRADUATION DAY AT MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL.....
THE 136TH ANNUAL....AT THE MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL GYM AT 2 P.M.
I WAS THERE TO BROADCAST IT ON KMAQ-FM.
 117 GRADUATES
ASHLEY BECKER WAS ONE OF TWO GRADUATES TO SPEAK.
THE OTHER WAS OLIVIA KUTCH ABOVE.
PRINCIPAL MARK VERVAEKE ANNOUNCED THE TOP 10 STUDENTS.    TEN ON DOWN....JEBIDIAH MILLER, BRITTANY GOETZINGER, CARTER RIVER, BLAINE BERGGREN, AUSTIN SANDERS, OLIVIA KUTSCH, DALLAS DURKOP, MARISSA TILL AND THEN THE SALUATORIAN (GPA 3.995) CORY WIRTH AND THE
SALUTATORIAN (GPA 4.0) ASHLEY BECKER.
THE MCHS MIXED CHORUS (DIRECTED BY JOEL HAGEN) SANG TWO SONGS.
THIS IS MICHAEL HAYWARD, PRESIDENT OF THE SCHOOL BOARD, WHO
JUST BEFORE THIS PHOTO,  ADDRESSED THE GRADUATES AND GAVE A  TRIBUTE TO SUPT. DR. KIM HUCKSTADT, WHICH WAS FOLLOWED BY
A STANDING OVATION FOR KIM.    HUCKSTADT, BELOW, BEGAN HIS 13 YEARS
AS SUPERINTENDENT THE SAME YEAR THAT THIS YEAR'S CLASS STARTED
IN KINDERGARTEN.    KIM RETIRES AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR
AND WILL ENTER POLITICS RIGHT AFTER.

THIS WAS THE 6TH ANNUAL GRADUATION IN THE NEW GYM.   AND THERE WAS PLENTY OF ROOM FOR EVERYONE, INCLUDING SOME EMPTY SEATS.
AND FOR YEARS,  AT THE TWIN PIANOS, LONGTIME DISTRICT TEACHER
LINDA POLK  AND FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH PASTOR JUDY HEINRICH 
JUST ABOVE.

THE CLASS MOTTO:

ANOTHER FUN WEEKEND IN MAQUOKETA....GLAD TO SHARE IT WITH YOU.
