THURSDAY DAILY REPORT

RAINY DAY IN THE 50'S.

A 40 BY 40 ADDITION TO THE MAIN BULLOCK'S AG SERVICE BUILDING AT THE WEST EDGE OF LAMOTTE WAS DESTROYED BY FIRE THIS MORNING.
WHEN FIREMEN ARRIVED, THE BUILDING WAS FULLY ENGULFED.  THE BUILDING WAS USED FOR STORAGE.    NEARBY BUILDINGS ALSO
DAMAGED.    THE BUSINESS IS OWNED BY TRAVIS AND BILLY BULLOCK.
THE LOSS IS INSURED.  NO CAUSE HAS BEEN DETERMINED.

THE HOSPITAL BOARD MET THIS WEEK AND PURCHASED A NEW TIME AND
ATTENDANCE SYSTEM, TO REPLACE THE OLD THAT IS 14 YEARS OLD.
IT HAS BECOME UNRELIABLE.   THE NEW ONE WILL COST $118,953.
THE BOARD ALSO PRESENTED THE SECOND SAFETY HERO AWARD TO
REGISTERED NURSE DARCIE ROCKWELL FOR HER FOCUS ON PATIENT AND STAFF SAFETY.

A  ONE CAR ACCIDENT FIVE MILES FROM MAQUOKETA.    REECE SCHNEWEIS,
AGE 15, WAS DRIVING ON DARK HOLLOW ROAD, ROUNDING A CURVE, AND SHE THEN LOST CONTROL AND WENT OFF THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HIT A GUARDRAIL.   $13,500 DAMAGE TO THE 2006 DODGE TRUCK.  
SHE WAS CHARGED WITH FAILURE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND FOR VIOLATION OF AN INSTRUCTION PERMIT.

SEVERAL MAQUOKETA BUSINESSES ARE REPORTING THE PASSING OF COUNTERFEIT TEN AND 20 DOLLAR BILLS,.

THE ANNUAL MAQUOKETA SCHOOL EDUCATION FUND BREAKFAST WAS
HELD THIS WEEK AT THE HIGH SCHOOL CAFETORIUM, WITH 60 ATTENDING.
OVER $18,000 IN GRANTS WAS AWARDED TO VARIOUS STAFF MEMBERS WHO WILL USE THE MONEY FOR PROJECTS BEYOND THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM.
THE COMMITTEE THIS YEAR IMPLEMENTED THE ANNUAL DR. KIM  HUCKSTADT EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION GRANT THAT RECEIVED THE HIGHEST SCORE.    IT IS NAMED IN  HONOR OF OUTGOING SUPT. HUCKSTADT FOR ALL HIS SUPPORT IN GETTING THE GRANTS STARTED.  THIS YEAR'S FIRST RECIPIENT WAS ELIZABETH WOLD AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL FOR TAG ENRICHMENT MATERIALS FOR BRIDGE BUILDING AND LEGO ROBOTICS.

FIVE MAQUOKETA CARDINALS ARE COMPETING IN THE DRAKE RELAYS TOMORROW AND SATURDAY:   CORDEROL CAMPBELL, HANNAH GRUENWALD,
JENNA HOLTZ, HAILEY SCHWENKER AND AUBREE TAYLOR.

THE CARDINAL GIRLS GOLF TEAM HOSTED THE MAQUOKETA INVITATIONAL
YESTERDAY AT THE MAQUOKETA COUNTRY CLUB.   8 TEAMS COMPETED.
DYERSVILLE BECKMAN TOOK FIRST PLACE AND MAQUOKEATA 6TH.
BEST SCORE FOR MAQUOKETA, AN 83 BY ALLISON VANDEMORE.  THE MEET WAS ON TUESDAY.
YESTERDAY, THE GIRLS PLAYED AT MANCHESTER AND LOST, 232 TO 243.
MEDALIST WAS ALLISON OF MAQUOKETA WITH A 48,.

THE BOYS GOLF TEAM WAS IN THE SABER INVITATIONAL AT DEWITT.
6 TEAMS.   DEWITT TOOK FIRST, AND MAQUOKETA 6TH.  THE CARDINAL'S TOP PLAYER, CAM THEDE DID NOT PLAY AS HE WAS VISITING HIS BROTHER IN THE STATE OF WASHINGTON.

GIRL'S SOCCER THIS WEEK, MAQUOKETA 3, MT.VERNON 0.
TWO GOALS BY DEMI CRIST AND ONE BY TAYLER BICKFORD.
