MONDAY MORNING THERE WAS A CAR - SEMI ACCIDENT JUST NORTH OF MAQUOKETA AT HURSTVILLE. TODAY, WE FINIALLY GOT DETAILS FROM THE
IOWA STATE PATROL. ABBY KUNDE, 32, OF MAQUOKETA, WAS EASTBOUND
ON THE ESGATE ROAD AND THE SEMI WAS NORTHBOUND ON 61. KUNDE CROSSED THE NORTHBOUND LANES AND INTO THE PATH OF THE SEMI.
HER VEHICLE WAS PUSHED INTO THE GRASS MEDIAN AND THE SEMI
WENT INTO THE DITCH AND ROLLED ONTO ITS SIDE. KUNDE HAD
HER 4 YEAR OLD SON WITH HER. THE DRIVER OF THE SEMI WAS FROM KALONA. ALL 3 WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. WE HAVE NO
CONDITION REPORTS. DAMAGE TO THE KUNDE CAR WAS $15,000 AND
DAMAGE TO THE SEMI, $135,000. CHARGES ARE PENDING.
THEN THAT NIGHT, THERE WAS ANOTHER CAR - SEMI ACCIDENT AT THAT LOCATION AND PAINT WAS SPILLED ON TO THE HIGHWAY. MORE ON

IN HONORING VETERANS. HE HIMSELF WAS A WWII NAVY VETERAN.
HE HAS BEEN RETIRED BUT CAME DOWN TO HIS SHOP HE OWNED ON WEST PLATT MANY MORNINGS TO HAVE A COFFEE-NEWS BREAK WITH FRIENDS.
HE WAS VERY ACTIVE IN THE LEGION AND VFW. BILL WAS A GOOD GUY AND WILL BE MISSED. HIS WIFE DIED A COUPLE YEARS AGO.
