IT IS...
HOMECOMING WEEK
THE MAQUOKETA CARDINALS
AGAINST THE MARION INDIANS
ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY TODAY AND THE WEATHER WILL STAY THIS WAY ALL WEEK LONG. WARMEST DAY WILL BE FRIDAY, 80.
A WATER MAIN BREAK IN MAQUOKETA THIS MORNING ON NORTH MAIN STREET, JUST A COUPLE HUNDRED FEET SOUTH OF KMAQ.
ALLIANCE WATER RESOURCES, MAQUOKETA DIVISION, WENT RIGHT TO
WORK WITH FIVE MEN AND ONE WOMAN. THEY DIG THE HOLE ABOUT 5 OR 6 FEET DOWN AND LOOK FOR THE LEAK. THEN THEY BRING IN THE
4 BY 8 PANELS AND PLACE THEM AROUND THE EDGE OF THE HOLE.
A HYDRAULIC JACK KEEPS THOSE PANELS IN PLACE AND PREVENTS A CAVE-IN. THE WATER IS TURNED OFF, THE REPAIR MADE, AND THEY THEN FILL UP THE HOLE AND FINISH THE PROJECT. WITH GOOD LUCK, THEY CAN DO THE JOB IN A FEW HOURS BUT IT CAN TAKE AS LONG AT 15 OR MORE HOURS. OF COURSE WINTER WEATHER CAN MAKE THE JOB
SLOW AND HARD. THE PANELS ARE TAKEN OUT AND RE-USED.
THE ST. LOUIS CARDINALS ARE STILL IN FIRST PLACE, TWO GAMES
AHEAD OF THE PIRATES AND THE REDS. GO CARDINALS
THE MAQUOKETA CARDINALS PLAY MARION FRIDAY NIGHT AT GOODENOW
