A LITTLE MORE SUNSHINE TODAY, BUT STILL COOL.

THE WAMAC EAST "ALL CONFERENCE" VOLLEYBALL TEAM WAS ANNOUNCED YESTERDAY.
MAKING FIRST TEAM, DEVON O'CONNELL OF MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL.
ON SECOND TEAM, HALEIGH DAURELLE AND MARLEE LINDSTROM OF MAQUOKETA HIGH.
RECEIVING HONORABLE MENTION FROM MAQUOKETA....NICOLE SNYDER AND ALLISON
VANDEMORE.

DELMAR, CHARLOTTE AND MAQUOKETA FIREMEN WERE CALLED TO A FIRE IN A GRAIN
DRYING BIN THIS MORNING IN DELMAR, AT THE AG ADVANTAGE ELEVATOR.
FIREMEN WERE AT THE SCENE FOR A COUPLE HOURS AND AG ADVANTAGE DRAINED
THE CORN OUT OF THE BOTTOM AND HAULED THE BURNT CORN AWAY.

FRIENDS OF JACKSON COUNTY CONSERVATION ANNOUNCED ON KMAQ'S "JUST TALK"
SHOW THIS MORNING THAT PLANS ARE UNDERWAY FOR A $50,000 PROJECT
AT THE HURSTVILLE INTERPRETIVE CENTER, THAT WILL INCLUDE AN OUTDOOR
AMPHITHEATER. FUND RAISING HAS STARTED. IT WILL BE THE FIRST MAJOR
ADDITION TO THE CENTER SINCE IN OPENED IN AUGUST OF 2004. ABOUT 10,000 PEOPLE VISIT THE CENTER EACH YEAR. JACKSON COUNTY CONSERVATION HAS
ITS OFFICE THERE AND MANAGE THE FACILITY AND THE OUTDOOR GROUNDS AND
WATERFOWL AREA. IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS TO HAPPEN TO MAQUOKETA AND
JACKSON COUNTY AND I'M GLAD TO HEAR THEY ARE GOING TO ENHANCE IT. THE FUND
RAISING WILL INCLUDE 4 DINNER THEATER PROGRAMS THERE. THE FIRST WILL
BE BY KEVIN BURNS WHO WILL TALK ABOUT HIKING THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE. IT
WILL BE AT 4 P.M. SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13TH AND TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE NOW
AT THE CENTER AND MUST BE PURCHASED BY NOVEMBER 4TH. TICKETS ARE JUST
$9.00 FOR THE PROGRAM AND MEAL.

AN RTA BUS DRIVER REPORTED DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD OF HIS BUS WHILE HE
WAS TRANSPORTING STUDENTS YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. GERALD MILLER TOLD THE
SHERIFF DEPUTY THAT HE WAS STOPPED AT 500TH AVENUE AND HIGHWAY 52 AT 3:45 P.M. WITH SOME STUDENTS ON THE BUS. MILLER SAID AN UNKNOWN PERSON SHOT WHAT APPEARED TO BE A PELLET AT THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING SOME DAMAGE. DEPUTY RUSS LONG IS INVESTIGATING THE MATTER. OTHER INCIDENTS WITH RTA BUSES HAVE BEEN REPORTED SINCE THEY BEGAN TRANSPORTING STUDENTS FROM THE MILES AREA TO PRESTON SCHOOLS THIS FALL. NO ONE WAS HURT IN YESTERDAY'S INCIDENT.

THE MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MONDAY NIGHT GAVE APPROVAL TO THE
HIGH SCHOOL "CLUB HOPE" REQUEST TO GO TO KENYA IN THE SUMMER OF 2013.
CLUB MEMBERS WENT ON THE FIRST TRIP THERE DURING THE SUMMER OF 2010.
THE COST OF THE TRIP WILL BE AROUND $3,000 EACH AND THE ENTIRE CLUB WILL DO FUND-RAISERS TO OFFSET THE COSTS. SO FAR, 17 STUDENTS AND
10 ADULTS HAVE EXPRESSED INTEREST IN GOING TO KENYA ON THE NEXT TRIP.

THREE MORE DEER ACCIDENTS. THOSE REPORTING THE ACCIDENT WERE: WEAVER
CROUCH, KATHLEEN POLING AND RON KASEMODEL. NO INJURIES IN ANY OF THE
ACCIDENTS.

THE MAQUOKETA VFW WILL SPONSOR A DANCE ON FRIDAY NIGHT, VETERAN'S DAY, NOVEMBER 11TH, FROM 7 UNTIL 11, AT THE PEARSON CENTER ON THE FAIRGROUNDS IN MAQUOKETA. JACKSON COUNTY'S POPULAR BAND "COUNTRY TRADITION" WILL SUPPLY THE MUSIC. EVERYONE IS INVITED, ACCORDING TO TOM WATTERS OF FULTON, VFW COMMANDER. THE TICKET PRICE IS $7.00.
