IN MY REPORT SATURDAY, UNDER THE PHOTO TAKEN AT THE MAQUOKETA GYM,
I MENTIONED TWO GIRLS THAT PLAYED ON VARSITY TEAM FRIDAY NIGHT WERE SOPHOMORES.
THAT WAS WRONG, THEY ARE FRESHMEN. AND SINCE THEN, I GOT TWO
EMAILS FROM CARDINAL FANS SAYING THEY THOUGHT UPPERCLASSMEN
SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SIT ON THE VARSITY BENCH WHILE UNDERCLASSMEN PLAYED.
LOTS OF THOUGHTS ABOUT THAT OVER THE YEARS. I HAVE ALWAYS FELT THAT FRESHMEN AND SOPHOMORES SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE BROUGHT UP TO THE VARSITY. AND THAT THIS SHOULD BE A STATE ATHLETIC UNION RULE.
THE FIRST BINGO SHOW OF THE WINTER SEASON JUST ENDED ON KMAQ.
OUR FIRST WINNER TODAY WAS ROSIE MILLER OF ROSEMERE LANE IN MAQUOKETA.
WE PLAY FREE RADIO BINGO FROM 3:30 UNTIL 4 EVERY AFTERNOON, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. ROSIE WON $15 CASH AND TWO THEATRE TICKETS.
FOUR VEHICLES WERE BROKEN INTO OVER THE WEEKEND IN MAQUOKETA.
BEN HARKIN, SHERILYN RUTENBECK, ROSEANNA ALLEN AND KYLE VANIS
ALL REPORTING THE BREAKINS. IN ONE CAR, A $400 VACUUM CLEANER WAS TAKEN.
MAQUOKETA CITY COUNCIL MEETING TONIGHT AT 7.
SOLOMON IS THE 14-MONTH OLD BOY THAT IS BEING ADOPTED BY MR AND MRS PATRICK BENTROTT IN HAITI. BUT, PAPERWORK IS NOT COMPLETED.
THERE ARE OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. A NEW WEBSITE WAS
LAUCHED LAST WEEK TO ASSIT IN GETTING SOLOMON AND THE OTHER ADOPTIONS FINALIZED. THAT WEB SITE IS: www.SaveSolomon.com
GOT AN EMAIL FROM MCHS 1969 GRAD MIKE LYMAN THE OTHER DAY. LAST YEAR, HE RETIRED FROM MOTOROLA IN MUNICH, GERMANY, WHERE HE HAS LIVED
FOR THE LAST 11 YEARS. HE NOW HAS HIS OWN CONSULTANT BUSINESS AND
THIS HAS TAKEN HIM TO PHOENIX WHERE HE WILL BE LIVING FOR SOME TIME TO COME. HE WILL KEEP HIS RESIDENCE IN GERMANY TOO. IF YOU WOULD LIKE
HIS EMAIL ADDRESS, LET ME KNOW. MIKE WAS A STUDENT ANNOUNCER FOR KMAQ BACK IN THE LATE 60'S AND HIS DAD WAS A RAILROAD ENGINEER AND
MUSICIAN BACK IN THOSE DAYS.
'AVITAR' WAS THE BIG WINNER LAST NIGHT AT THE GOLDEN GLOBES.
IT IS STILL SHOWING AT THE THEATRE HERE AND WILL BE HELD OVER FOR
ANOTHER BIG WEEK.
HAVE A GOOD WEEK.
