THEN, THERE WAS MORE SNOW OVER THE WEEKEND.
TODAY, SUNNY AND NEAR 30, BUT DOWN BELOW ZERO TONIGHT.

BIRTH:   MARK AND DEVON TYLER OF CEDAR RAPIDS HAD A GIRL WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT ST. LUKE'S IN CEDAR RAPIDS.    MATERNAL GRANDPARENTS ARE BRUCE AND SHERI RUCHOTZKE OF MAQUOKETA.

MAQUOKETA'S JOBLESS RATE IN NOVEMBER WAS 7.9 PERCENT, UP FROM 7.2 IN OCTOBER.    IOWA IS AT 6.7.

IOWA'S POPULATION HAS GROWN TO MORE THAN 3-MILLION.    IOWA RANKS
30TH IN NATION.    NUMBER 1 IS CALIFORNIA WITH 37-MILLION.

TWO AREA TEENAGERS HAVE BEEN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH AN EARLY
MORNING INCIDENT IN MAQUOKETA.     SHORTLY AFTER 5 THIS MORNING, MAQUOKETA POLICE RESPONDED TO A BURGLAR ALARM AT FLAP JACK FAMILY RESTAURANT.     WHILE CHECKING THE BUILDING, OFFICERS FOUND 2 MALES
ON THE NORTH SIDE AND THEY THEN RAN.    OFFICERS GAVE CHASE ON FOOT AND APPREHENDED THE PAIR NEAR BANOWETZ ANTIQUES UP THE HILL AND ACROSS
THE STREET.    CHARGED, BRUCE BOLLINGER, AGE 18, OF RURAL MAQUOKETA AND DAMIEN SCHULZE, AGE 19, OF MAQUOKETA....BOTH CHARGED WITH PUBLIC INTOXICATION AND BOTH TAKEN TO JAIL.   BOTH APPEARED IN COURT THIS MORNING AND WERE FINED $147.75.    FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE TWO ENTERED FLAPJACK'S THRU A DOWNSTAIRS WINDOW THAT WAS BROKEN OUT AND POLICE NOTICED A FLAT  TV HAS BEEN PARTIALLY REMOVED FROM ITS BRACKET.
SO, POLICE THEN ADDITIONALLY CHARGED THE TWO WITH BURGLARY IN THE 3RD DEGREE AND POSSESSION OF BURGLAR TOOLS.       SHULZE IS BEING HELD IN JAIL UNDER $9,750 CASH BOND AND BOLLINGER WAS RELEASED ON HIS OWN
RECOGNIZANCE PENDING FURTHER COURT ACTION.

IOWA OPENS UP THE BIG TEN BASKETBALL SEASON TOMORROW NIGHT,
HOSTING PURDUE.

IOWA STATE PLAYS IN THEIR BOWL GAME THURSDAY AFTERNOON AT 5 P.M.
IOWA PLAYS IN THE ORANGE BOWL JANUARY 5TH.
