WARMER THAN NORMAL WEATHER HAS BEEN THE RULE ALL WEEK AND
WILL CONTINUE FOR A COUPLE MORE DAYS.

SENATOR ROGER STEWART, DEMOCRAT, FROM RURAL PRESTON (HIS FARM
ABOUT 7 MILES EAST OF MAQUOKETA) ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT HE WILL
NOT BE SEEKING RE-ELECTION IN 2010.   HE HAS SERVED FROM JANUARY 2003
AND AFTER HIS SECOND FOUR YEAR TERM IS DONE DECEMBER 31, 2010,
HE WILL HAVE SERVED 8 YEARS.      

A MAQUOKETA WOMAN ACCUSED OF TAKING MONEY FROM CASEYS HAS HAD THE CHARGES DISMISSED BECAUSE THE STORE MADE AN ERROR.     ACCORDING
TO COURT DOCUMENTS, NATALIE WESTCOTT, AGE 20, WAS CHARGED WITH THEFT
IN THE 5TH DEGREE.    THE STORE SAID ON NOVEMBER 5TH, SHE TOOK $110
FROM THE SAFE AND REGISTER AND PUT IT IN HER PURSE.     COURT DOCUMENTS
SHOW THE STORE MADE AN ERROR AND WESTCOTT DID NOT TAKE THE
MONEY.   HER CHARGES HAVE BEEN DISMISSED.

TWO MAQUOKETA STUDENTS HAVE QUALIFIED FOR THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS TEAM
CHAMPIONSHIPS IN THE PUNT, PASS AND KICK COMPETITION.     LIZ GAVEN WILL BE IN THE 12 AND 13 YEAR OLD GIRL'S COMPETITION AND BRADLEY WALLER WILL BE IN THE 14 AND 15 YEAR OLD BOY'S DIVISION.  THEY WILL COMPETE NOVEMBER 22ND
WHEN THE VIKINGS PLAY THE SEAHAWKS AT THE MINNEAPOLIS METRODOME.
GAVIN IS A 7TH GRADER AND IS THE DAUGHTER OF BOB AND JENNIFER GAVIN
AND WALLER IS A SOPHOMORE AND THE SON OF DR. ROGER AND TRACY WALLER.

AT THE UNI DOME THIS AFTERNOON, LENNOX DEFEATED PRESTON, 30 TO 8.
PRESTON ENDED THEIR GREAT SEASON WITH A 12 AND 1 RECORD.
LENNOX WILL PLAY AGAIN A WEEK FROM TOMORROW AND ARE THE DEFENDING STATE CHAMPIONS IN 8-PLAYER FOOTBALL.

THANKSGIVING IS TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY.     BETTER GET THAT TURKEY.
