NICE DAY....IN THE MID 70'S.

TWO MAQUOKETA COMMUNITY SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS, MARTY HUDRLIK AND BRIAN TABOR, ARE UP FOR ELECTION THIS FALL.
HUDRLIK SAID THIS WEEK THAT HE WILL SEEK RE-ELECTION. TABOR, WHO
LIVES IN BALDWIN, SAID HE HAS NOT DECIDED. NOMINATION PAPERS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE DISTRICT OFFICE OR THE AUDITOR'S OFFICE AT THE COURTHOUSE.
THE FIRST DAY TO FILE IS JULY 6TH AND THE LAST DAY, JULY 30TH. THE ELECTION WILL BE IN SEPTEMBER.

MRS. DAWN HEPKER, AGE 85, OF MARION, DIED THIS MORNING AT A CARE CENTER IN MARION, AFTER A BRIEF ILLNESS. SHE IS SURVIVED BY A SON, LEIGHTON HEPKER,
IN MAQUOKETA, STATION MANAGER HERE AT KMAQ. ALSO TWO DAUGHTERS, ONE IN TEXAS AND ANOTHER IN MISSOURI, ALSO 3 GRANDCHILDREN AND 1 GREAT-GRANDCHILD. THE FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE AT THE MURDOCK FUNERAL HOME
IN MARION AT 10 MONDAY MORNING. FRIENDS MAY CALL FROM 2 UNTIL 5 P.M. SUNDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME. MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE TO THE 1ST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN MARION. DAWN HEPKER FARMED WITH HER HUSBAND FOR MANY YEARS AT RURAL SPRINGVILLE AND THEN RETIRED IN MARION.
NICE LADY! MOST OF THE TIME WHEN I SAW HER, SHE WAS IN TOWN TO WATCH
GRANDSONS JUSTIN OR ADAM IN A SPORTS EVENT AT MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL.

GEORGE GRIFFIN WILL BE 95 MONDAY. HE RETIRED FROM NORTHERN PROPANE IN MAQUOKETA. HE IS A MASON AND ALSO AT ONE TIME, WAS A CITY COUNCILMAN. YOU CAN SEND HIM A CARD TO HIS HOME AT 222 S. MATTESON IN MAQUOKETA.

KAREN HORA OF MAQUOKETA, A 2002 GRAD OF MCHS, RECEIVED HER DEGREE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA COLLEGE OF PHARMACY IN MAY. SHE IS THE DAUGHTER OF JERRY AND LOUANN HORA OF MAQUOKETA.

LANNY SIMPSON, JACKSON COUNTY FAIR MANAGER, AND MANAGER OF THE
PEARSON MEMORIAL CENTER, IS FINIALLY GETTING AN EXPANDED, LARGER OFFICE. WHEN AT THE FAIR THIS YEAR, JUST OFF THE FRONT LOBBY OF THE LARGE BLUE BUILDING, PEEK THROUGH THE WINDOW AND TAKE A LOOK. THERE HAS BEEN A FULLTIME FAIR MANAGER, WITH AN OFFICE IN THAT BUILDING, FOR 30 YEARS, SINCE NOVEMBER 1979. I HAVE BEEN PRESIDENT OF THE PEARSON BOARD ALL THAT TIME AND HIRED THE FIRST MANAGER, TOM CALLAHAN, JUST OUT OF COLLEGE. THAT BUILDING GETS A LOT OF USE YEAR AROUND AND WAS A GIFT TO THE COUNTY BY THE MILES, IOWA LUMBER EXECUTIVE, ALLIE PEARSON.

GOT A FLAG TO FLY THIS SUNDAY? PLENTY OF TIME TO GET ONE!

HAVE A GOOD FRIDAY.
