IT HAS BEEN RAINING AGAIN THIS AFTERNOON IN MAQUOKETA AND MORE RAIN
IS FORECAST FOR TONIGHT.
NEVER HAVE WE HAD SO MUCH RAIN AND FLOODING IN IOWA. THANK GOODNESS IN MAQUOKETA THAT THE MAQUOKETA RIVER ONLY FLOODS SOME FARM GROUND JUST NORTH OF TOWN.
JACKSON COUNTY HAS BEEN DECLARED A DISASTER AREA BY GOV. CHET CULVER.
THAT MEANS PUBLIC ENTITIES WILL BE ABLE TO GET REIMBURSED FOR COSTS
ASSOCIATED WITH ANY FLOODING. AND IT MEANS THERE'S MONEY FOR TESTING
OF WELLS IN THE COUNTY. IF COUNTY RESIDENTS SEE A CHANGE IN THE WELL WATER SUCH AS TASTE OR CLARITY, THE WATER SHOULD BE TESTED FOR E COLI
BACTERIA.
