MY MONDAY AFTER-THE-STORM DAILY REPORT DID NOT MAKE IT UP HERE.
I WROTE IT. SOMETHING HAPPENED. YESTERDAY'S (TUESDAY) REPORT IS RIGHT BELOW THIS. ANYWAY, WE GOT ABOUT 8 INCHES OF SNOW OVER THE WEEKEND, HEAVY SNOW, ON TOP OF SLEET AND HAD LOTS OF WIND TO GO WITH IT. IT WAS A BLIZZARD THAT CAUSED MANY CANCELATIONS, MAINLY SUNDAY MORNING BREAKFAST EVENTS AND CHURCH SERVICES.
AND QUITE A FEW BUSINESS PLACES ALSO CLOSED. AND THE ICE ON DOWNED POWER LINES RESULTED IN NO ELECTRICITY FOR LAMOTTE,
ELWOOD, LOST NATION, OXFORD JUNCTION, AND WYOMNG. AND CALAMUS. CALAMUS IS STILL WITHOUT POWER.
NOW...WE HAVE RAIN IN OUR FORCAST FOR TONIGHT, TOMORROW AND
TOMORROW NIGHT. SNOW POSIBLE O FRIDAY AND DRY BUT COLD FOR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. IT WILL BE NICE TO SEE FEBRUARY LEAVE US.
IT WAS ONE OF THE COLDEST (KMAQ'S GAS BILL WAS $650 LAST FEBRUARY AND JUST OVER $800 THIS YEAR, AS ADDITIONAL PROOF) AND SNOWIEST ON RECORD. WE HAVE HAD AROUND 15 PLUS INCHES OF SNOW. NOW.... LOOKS LIKE MARCH WILL COME IN LIKE A LION.
THE MAQUOKETA BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM PLAY HOST TO MT. VERNON MONDAY NIGHT AND WON THE GAME BY 1 POINT. IT WAS ANOTHER COME FROM BEHIND VICTORY. MAQUOKETA WON THE FIRST GAME AND DEWITT WON ON THEIR GYM A COUPLE WEEKS AGO....SO IT SHOULD BE A GREAT GAME AND LEIGHTON HEPKER WILL BROADCAST IT ON KMAQ-FM.
THE ANDREW GIRLS ARE IN THE STATE TOURNAMENT (FIRST TIME IN 31 YEARS) AND WILL PLAY THE NUMBER ONE TEAM IN THE STATE MONDAY AFTERNOON AT DES MOINES. LEIGHTON WILL HAVE THAT GAME ALSO ON FM.
