BEAUTIFUL BUT COOL DAY.....62.

THE JACKSON COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS THIS WEEK RELUCTANTLY APPROVED PAYING $12,767 IN BILLS TO PAY FOR THE RESCUE AND CARE OF THE ANIMALS FROM THE GARIEN PLACE AT RURAL MAQUOKETA. THEY HOPE TO RECOUP THE MONEY LATER.

EVELYN LANGE, 81, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED THIS MONING. THE

BILL BOWEN, AGE 66, OF MAQUOKETA, DIED THIS MORNING AT THE GENESIS EAST HOSPITAL IN DAVENPORT. HE WAS THE LONGTIME
MEAT MANAGER AT THE FAREWAY STORE IN MAQUOKETA UNTIL RETIRING. SURVIVORS INCLUDE HIS WIFE, PEG. SERVICES ARE PENDING AT CARSON'S.

HOMECOMING WEEK BEGINS SUNDAY AFTERNOON WITH THE BIG
JERSEY AUCTION AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, CONDUCTED BY THE
MAQUOKETA ATHLETIC BOOSTERS. THEY ARE ALSO WINDING UP THE
SALE OF $20 RAFFLE TICKETS FOR THE NEW PICKUP TO BE DRAWN FOR
AT THE HOMECOMING GAME. SO FAR, NONE OF MY DISTANT READERS OF THIS REPORT HAVE SENT ME A CHECK FOR A RAFFLE TICKET.......THE ODDS ARE BETTER THAN ANY LOTTERY!!
