A MAQUOKETA WOMAN WAS CHARGED AFTER SHE CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE AT 6 LAST SATURDAY NIGHT ON SOUTH OTTO.
POLICE OFFICER PAT FIER CHARGED LEANN WALSH, AGE 37, AFTER SHE BACKED FROM A PRIVATE DRIVE AND HIT A PARKED, UNOCCUPIED VEHICLE REGISTERED TO MERLIN BRANDENBERG OF MAQUOKTA.
DAMAGES OF ABOUT $500 TO EACH VEHICLE.

AT THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING LAST NIGHT, THE COUNCIL ENDORSED AN EXPANSION OF THE PRESENT FIRE STATION, WITH A PROPOSED COST OF $1.5 MILLION DOLLARS. THEY AUTORIZED $15,000 FOR THE DESIGN DEVELOPMENT PHASE. THE PRESENT STATION IS TOO SMALL. IT WAS MENT TO HOUSE 4 OR 5 TRUCKS AND NOW THE SQUEEZE IN 8. THE PLAN IS TO ADD 3 BAYS, A NEW TRAINING AND OFFICE AREA, AND NEW PARKING AREA. THE LAND TO THE SOUTH IS ALREADY OWNED BY THE CITY.
NO MONEY IS AVAIABLE NOW, SO FINANCING NEEDS TO BE DISCUSSED
BY THE COUNCIL AND FIREMEN. THERE IS LITTLE OR NO OPPOSITION TO THE IDEA.
THIS SUNDAY, THE ANNUAL FIREMEN'S BREAKFAST WILL BE HELD AT THE STATION. ITS ONE OF THE BIGGEST OF THE YEAR.

A 19 YEAR OLD CLINTON MAN IS IN THE JACKSON COUNTY DETENTION CENTER AFTER BEING ARRESTED FOR HAVING SEXUAL INTERCOURSE WITH A 13 YEAR OLD EARLY SUNDAY MORNING AT SOUTH SABULA LAKE
PARK CAMPRGROUNDS.

TOMORROW, GOV. TOM VILSACK WILL BE IN MAQUOKETA, AT THE NEW OHNWARD FINE ARTS CENTER, TO BE THE GUEST SPEAKER TO KICK-OFF SEN. ROGER STEWART'S RE-ELECTION CAMPAIGN. THE EVENT WILL BE FROM 5 UNTIL 7 P.M. TOMORROW NIGHT.

EMMA MILLER, AGE 104, OF ROCK VALLEY, DIED SUNDAY. SURVIVORS
