THE KMAQ FARM & HOME SHOW WENT WELL ....WITH ATTENDANCE NEARLHY 3,000. THURSDAY'S MID-DAY CROWD WAS PROBABLY THE BIGGEST EVER.
THE FARMER OF THE YEAR, NAMED THURSDAY, WAS JERRY FARRELL OF DELMAR. THE AG PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD WENT TO ED ANDREWS,WHO RECENTLY RETIRED AS HEAD OF THE SOIL CONSERVATION OFFICE IN JACKSON COUNTY AND THE AG BUSINES LEADER AWARD WENT TO AL TUBBS OF DEWITT, CHAIRMAN OF THE MAQUOKETA STATE BANK.

RED HENTON ENTERTAINED BOTH DAYS. HE HAS A NEW CD OUT, WITH 8 SONGS ON IT. I FIRST MET RED IN 1958 WHEN RED, BERNIECE, BROTHERS JIM AND RED AND WINDY RIMMER DID A 15-MINUTE DAILY RADIO SHOW ON THE THEN NEW KMAQ. WE RECORDED THE FIVE SHOWS FOR THE WEEK ONE EVENING A WEEK AND I HELPED WITH THE RECORDING.
