BORMANN, REPRESENTING AREA KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS MEMBERS, IS HEADING UP A GROUP WHO PLAN TO GO DOWN TO NEW ORLEANS AREA TO TAKE FOOD, AND WATER TO KC MEMBERS DOWN THERE AND THEN THEY WOULD OFFER TO BRING BACK ABOUT 40 PEOPLE, INCLUDING CHILDREN.
SUPERVISORS DISCUSSED COSTS, TRANSPORTATION FOR THE PEOPLE, SCHOOLS,
AND WANT MORE INFORMATION ON ANY STATE OR FEMA FUNDING THAT MIGHT BE AVAILABLE.
A SPECIAL MEETING MAY BE CALLED LATER THIS WEEK, AS SOON AS ROB DEEGAN, COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR, GETS MORE INFORMATION.
HELEN AND CHRIS PETAROS HAVE SOLD THEIR GREEK RESTAURANT IN SILVIS, AFTER 38 YEARS OF OPERATION, SO THEY CAN RETIRE. THEY BOTH ARE FROM GREECE AND BEFORE GOING TO THE QUAD CITIES, WORKED AT THE POPULAR GREEN MILL RESTAURANT IN MAQUOKETA, FOR GEORGE PETAROS, BROTHER OF CHRIS. NEPHEWS TOM PETAROS AND SISTER GEORGIA, STILL LIVE HERE IN TOWN.
THE MAQUOKETA CLASS OF 1945 WILL BE HOLDING THEIR 60TH REUNION THIS WEEKEND IN MAQUOLETA. HELEN HUTE AND GAYLE STICKLEY ARE IN HEADING UP THE EVENT.
DEAN AND KAREN TILTON, WHO RECENTLY MOVED FROM MAQUOKETA TO THE VILLAGES, FLORIDA, WERE IN A GOLF CART PARADE OVER THE WEEKEND, OF 3,500 GOLF CARTS. THE CITIZENS OF THE VILLAGES SET OUT TO BREAK THE GUINESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS, OF 1,700 GOLF CARTS IN A PARADE. KAREN AND DEAN DROVE THEIR NEW IOWA HAWKEYE CART IN THE 4-HOUR EVENT AND IF YOU KNOW THE TILTON'S, YOU NOW KNOW A COUPLE PEOPLE WHO HOLD A RECORD IN GUINESS.
