A CAR-SIMI CRASH AT THE INTERSECTION WEST OF PLATT AND WESTERN AVENUE AT 10 THIS MORING RESULTED IN A LOT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE BUT FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS HURT. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN BY SHARON KLOFT, AGE 65, OF MAQUOKETA AND THE SEMI WAS DRIVEN BY A WYOMING, IOWA MAN. HE RAN A RED LIGHT AND HIT THE KLOFT CAR AND WAS CHARGED.
THE MISS IOWA PAGEANT IS NEXT WEEKEND AND ONE OF THE 19 COMPETING WILL BE GRETCHEN DAVISON, AGE24, OF MAQUOKETA. SHE WON THE MISS MAQUOKETA RIVER PAGEANT EARLIER THIS YEAR. THE PAGEANT WILL BE AT NORTH SCOTT HIGH SCHOOL IN ELDRIDGE.
THE MAQUOKETA HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION WILL BE AT 2 SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT THE NEW OHNWARD CENTER AUDITORIUM. 153 SENIORS ARE ELIGIBLE TO GRADUATE AND 150 WILL ACTUALLY TAKE PART IN THE CEREMONY. THREE STUDENTS WILL SPEAK: AUBRIE CARINDER, JOVON EBERHART AND DREW KAHLER. IT WILL BE BROADCAST ON KMAQ-FM.
