THE FAMILY DOLLAR DISTRIBUTION CENTER SOUTH OF MAQUOKETA HAS 371 EMPLOYEES NOW AND ON ANY GIVEN DAY, THEY HAVE 50 TO 75 JOB OPENINGS. THEY ARE FINDING IT DIFFICULT TO FILL THEIR JOBS. TO MEET DEMANDS, MANY EMPLOYEES ARE WORKING EXTRA HOURS.
JACKSON COUNTY'S DECEMBER UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, ANNOUNCED THIS WEEK, WAS AT 6.8 PERCENT, UP FROM 5.9 IN NOVEMBER. A YEAR AGO DECEMBER, IT WAS 7 PERCENT.
